Process

EIA Process

Environmental Impact Assessment is a process which includes the preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment Report bin accordance with the EIA Regulations which includes the identification of the likely significant environmental effects (both positive and negative) of the proposed Garvary Wind Farm and describes mitigation proposed to avoid, reduce and offset any likely significant adverse environmental effects.

The proposed development is categorised as a 'schedule 2' development under the EIA Regulations. If schedule 2 development is likely to have significant environmental effects because of factors such as its nature, size or location, it is considered an 'EIA development'.

Consultation

A programme of consultation, including public exhibitions, took place throughout 2019/2020.

Application

Owing to the anticipated connected capacity of the scheme (222 MW), an application for permission has been submitted to the Scottish Government's Energy Consents Unit. The Highland Council will however be an important consultee, along with NatureScot, SEPA, Historic Environment Scotland and various other bodies, including local Community Councils.

Decision

Scottish Ministers will invite consultees to comment on the application. The public, local residents and Community Councils will also have the opportunity to express their views on the proposed Garvary Wind Farm. You can register your support via this website under Have Your Say.
