Garvary Wind Farm
Why Garvary?
Coriolis Energy has identified the proposed development site as having good potential for a wind farm for the following key reasons:
- A large area with no environmental or landscape designations;
- Sparsely populated, with substantial separation from nearby dwellings and settlements;
- Relatively contained zone of visual influence owing to surrounding terrain screening;
- Easily accessible from the trunk road network;
- Access to grid infrastructure;
- A good wind resource;
- Significant potential for a positive contribution to local communities and environment.
What is being proposed?
The proposed Garvary Wind Farm will have the capacity to generate 222 Megawatts of electricity and will consist of:
- 37 three-bladed horizontal axis wind turbines;
- Internal transformers and related switchgear at each turbine;
- Associated turbine foundations;
- Associated hardstanding areas for erection and maintenance cranes at each turbine base;
- Four permanent free-standing meteorological mast;
- A network of on-site tracks with associated water crossings, passing bays and turning heads;
- A site access route with any necessary road improvements works from public road network;
- Search areas of up to six borrow pits
- A substation compound, including battery storage unit
- Up to five temporary site construction compounds
- A network of on-site buried electrical cables;
- A Batching Plant; and
- Associated ancillary works.
