Project Update
29 May 2020
Following feedback from the public exhibitions, community groups and statutory consultees, we have been working on the Garvary proposals and have reduced the number of turbines from 46 turbines to 38 turbines. We have removed eight turbines to reduce the potential visual impact from the Struie Viewpoint and the wider Dornoch Firth National Scenic Area.
We held public exhibitions in Bonar Bridge and Lairg in September 2019 and welcomed 39 people over the two days and attended several Community Council meetings towards the end of 2019. At the exhibitions, the layout was for 46 turbines at 180m to tip. Thank you to all of those who have provided feedback on the proposals.
The latest proposals can be found here and in the ‘Links & Downloads’ tab above.
We are following Scottish Government advice in relation to the health emergency and we hope to submit a S36 application in Summer 2020.
We are committed to £5,000 per MW in community benefit, which could mean over £1,000,000 per annum for the lifetime of the project. We have also committed to community/shared ownership for Garvary Wind Farm if there is interest in the local area.
